A study plan built on frequency

Learn the words that cover the most text first, with spaced repetition, and measure coverage instead of guessing.

Frequency is the backbone; the rest is habit. A plan that works for most adult learners:

  1. Alphabet and sounds first. Thirty-three letters, a few days. The free course starts here.
  2. The first 100, then [A1](/a1). 860 words that cover 37.95% of running text. Learn each with its stress and one example phrase.
  3. Spaced repetition every day. Short daily reviews beat long weekly sessions. The Learn Ukrainian course schedules reviews for you, free, with no account needed; if you already use Anki, take the deck for your level. The course map shows which unit teaches what.
  4. [A2](/a2), then [B1](/b1). By the end of B1 you know 3,460 validated words covering 64.21% of running text.
  5. Read early, measure often. Paste a news article into the text profiler and see your coverage climb. Pick texts at 90% or more.
  6. Learn verbs in pairs. See aspect pairs and verbs of motion.
